NSP Scholarships in Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh is the single highest-volume state on NSP, accounting for a disproportionate share of total applications given its population size. The state has the largest Muslim minority population in India, and all three Ministry of Minority Affairs schemes see massive uptake in UP. The state also runs the UP Scholarship Portal (pfms.nic.in/UP) for additional state-level Samaj Kalyan scholarships. SC and OBC central schemes from NSP are processed through the state's Social Welfare and Backward Class Welfare departments respectively.

NSP Schemes Available in Uttar Pradesh

The following central government scholarship schemes on NSP are directly relevant for students in Uttar Pradesh. These are administered by central ministries but verified by the state nodal officer. Click any scheme for full eligibility details and documents.

State Scholarship Portal

Uttar Pradesh also lists additional state-level scholarship schemes on NSP. These are separate from the central schemes above and are managed by the state government. Check the Uttar Pradesh state government scholarship portal alongside NSP to ensure you do not miss state-specific benefits that you may qualify for independently.

How to Apply for NSP Scholarships in Uttar Pradesh

1
Confirm your eligibility. Check your category (SC/ST/OBC/Minority/Merit), your income level, and your current course against the scheme criteria. Use the scheme guides linked above to verify eligibility before you spend time gathering documents.
2
Gather your documents before applying. The most common reason for rejection in Uttar Pradesh is missing or invalid documentation. Get your income certificate, community certificate, bank passbook, and Aadhaar card ready before opening the NSP portal.
3
Register or log in at scholarships.gov.in. First-time applicants register with their Aadhaar number. Returning students log in to their existing account and apply for renewal. Ensure your Aadhaar is linked to your bank account before registering.
4
Select the correct scheme and complete the application. Choose the scheme matching your category and level. Fill all fields carefully โ€” name and Aadhaar details must match exactly with government records. Mismatches are the single biggest cause of payment failures.
5
Submit and track institute verification. After online submission, your institution's NSP nodal officer must verify your application. Follow up with your college's scholarship coordinator regularly โ€” institute verification is mandatory for the application to move forward to the state level.

State-Level Schemes on NSP

Uttar Pradesh lists several state-level Samaj Kalyan Vibhag (Social Welfare Department) scholarships on NSP, covering post-matric SC, OBC, and minority students with amounts that supplement the central schemes. These include the Dashmottar Chatravritti Yojana for SC students and the OBC/EBC post-matric scheme. Importantly, the UP state portal (scholarship.up.gov.in) also hosts separate Samaj Kalyan schemes โ€” students must check both NSP and the UP state portal, as eligibility and amounts differ. The UP state schemes tend to have larger award amounts for post-matric professional courses than the central equivalents.

Tip for Uttar Pradesh Students

UP students should apply on both NSP (for central schemes) and the UP Scholarship Portal (for state Samaj Kalyan schemes) โ€” these are different and independent applications. The UP state portal has its own deadline which sometimes falls before the NSP deadline.

Apply on NSP

All applications are submitted free of charge on the official government portal. No agent or third-party site is needed.
