How to Check Your NSP Scholarship Status
From "Pending at Institute" to "Payment Released" โ a complete guide to understanding where your NSP application stands, what each status means, and what to do next.
How to Check Your Application Status on NSP
You can also check a basic status without logging in using the "Track Your Application Status" option on the NSP home page โ you will need your Application ID and mobile number for this.
Understanding NSP Status Codes
Each status means something specific โ here is what each one means and what action (if any) you need to take:
How to Check Payment Status via PFMS
PFMS (Public Financial Management System) is the payment backend for NSP. Once your application is approved, the money flows from the government to your account via PFMS. You can independently verify payment status here even before the money appears in your bank account.
Visit pfms.nic.in โ it is the official Government of India payment tracking portal. No fee or login is required to check payment status.
Common Payment Issues and Solutions
Even after approval, payment issues can arise. Here are the most common problems and how to resolve them.
๐ณ Application Approved But Money Not Received
Check PFMS (pfms.nic.in) to see if payment has been initiated. If PFMS shows "Transferred" but you haven't received it, visit your bank branch with the PFMS UTR number and ask them to trace the credit. It may have gone to a dormant or wrong account if details were entered incorrectly.
๐ Aadhaar-Bank Seeding Failure
If PFMS shows "Failed" for your payment, the most common cause is that your bank account is not properly seeded with Aadhaar, or the name on Aadhaar doesn't match the bank account. Visit your bank branch with your Aadhaar to re-seed the account, then contact the NSP helpline to request re-initiation of the payment.
๐ฆ Wrong Bank Account Entered
If you entered an incorrect account number or IFSC during application, the money may have gone elsewhere or bounced back. Contact the NSP helpline (0120-6619540) with your Application ID to report the error. The money is typically returned to the government treasury in case of a failed transfer and can be re-initiated after correction.
โณ Long Wait After State Approval
After state approval, payment release can take several weeks depending on fund release cycles and PFMS batch processing schedules. This is normal. If it has been more than 2โ3 months after the state approved your application and the money has still not arrived, contact the NSP helpline or your state's scholarship grievance portal.
