Who Can Apply for the PM Internship Scheme?
Complete eligibility criteria — age, education, income, and employment conditions — plus a quick checker to find out if you qualify.
Basic Eligibility at a Glance
Accepted Educational Qualifications
The scheme is specifically designed to be inclusive — you do not need a degree to apply. Any of the following qualifications make you eligible:
Age Requirement
You must be between 21 and 24 years old at the time of application. The age is calculated as of the date you submit your application on the official portal. If you turn 25 before applying, you are no longer eligible, even if you were 24 when applications opened.
Employment & Education Status
You must not be in full-time employment at the time of applying. This means if you have a regular salaried job, you are not eligible. Similarly, if you are currently enrolled in a full-time degree or diploma programme, you cannot apply.
Part-time work, casual labour, or freelance work does not necessarily disqualify you, but your overall status must not be that of a full-time employee.
Family Income Limit
Your family's annual income must be below ₹8 lakh per year. You will need to provide an income certificate issued by a government authority — typically a tehsildar, sub-divisional magistrate (SDM), or equivalent — as proof of income.
Who is NOT Eligible
The following candidates are explicitly excluded from the PM Internship Scheme:
- Graduates from IITs, IIMs, NITs, IISERs, IIFT, or NIFFT
- Candidates with CA, CMA, or CS qualifications
- MBAs or post-graduates from premier institutions
- Those currently employed full-time in any government or private sector job
- Candidates whose annual family income exceeds ₹8 lakh
- Anyone below 21 or above 24 years of age
- Candidates already enrolled in full-time education programmes
