YASASVI Scholarship — OBC, EBC & DNT Students
About This Scholarship
YASASVI (PM Young Achievers Scholarship Award Scheme for Vibrant India) is the most ambitious scholarship for OBC, EBC (Economically Backward Class), and DNT (De-notified Tribes) students, offering up to ₹1.25 lakh per year — among the highest on NSP for school-level students. Unlike most NSP schemes where eligibility is purely income-based, YASASVI requires students to qualify in a national-level test conducted by NTA (National Testing Agency). Students who clear the test and meet the income criteria receive the scholarship for study at top private schools with existing tie-ups. The scheme actively targets communities with historically low higher-education participation rates.
Eligibility Criteria
- Must belong to OBC, EBC, or DNT community as notified by the central government
- Enrolled in Class 9 or Class 11 (entry points) at an eligible school
- Annual family income must not exceed ₹2.5 lakh
- Must qualify in the YASASVI Entrance Test conducted by NTA
- Must be studying in a school identified and empanelled under the scheme
How Much You Get
This scheme provides Up to ₹1,25,000/year to eligible students. Income must not exceed ₹2.5 lakh/year from all sources, as certified by a competent authority. Scholarship money is disbursed directly to your Aadhaar-linked bank account via PFMS — no institution or intermediary handles the funds.
Amounts may vary between day scholars and hostellers in schemes that have both categories. Always check the official scheme guidelines on scholarships.gov.in for the current year's amount structure, as rates are subject to periodic revision by the government.
Documents Required
- OBC / EBC / DNT community certificate
- Income certificate
- YASASVI Entrance Test admit card and result
- School admission letter from empanelled school
- Previous year marksheet
- Aadhaar card and bank passbook
All documents must be uploaded in the format specified by NSP (usually JPG or PDF, under 200KB per file). Ensure scans are clear and legible — blurry uploads are a common cause of application defects.
The YASASVI entrance test is the gate to this scholarship — prepare for it seriously as you would for any competitive exam. NTA releases a syllabus and previous papers; the exam covers language, mathematics, and science. Qualifying the test is not enough on its own — you also need to secure admission at an empanelled school and apply on NSP within the window.
