PM Scholarship Scheme — CAPF & RPF Wards
About This Scholarship
The PM Scholarship Scheme for Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) is distinct from most NSP schemes in that it has no income limit — eligibility is based entirely on the applicant's family connection to a serving or ex-serviceperson of the CAPF, RPF, or Assam Rifles. It provides ₹3,000 per month for women students and ₹2,500 per month for men students pursuing professional degree courses including engineering, medicine, MBA, MCA, BCA, BBA, and equivalent. The Ministry of Home Affairs directly administers this scheme, and disbursal is among the most consistent on the NSP platform.
Eligibility Criteria
- Ward or widow of a serving or ex-CAPF (BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, SSB, NSG) or RPF or Assam Rifles personnel
- Priority given to wards of personnel killed/disabled in action
- Enrolled in a recognised first-year professional degree course
- Minimum 60% marks in qualifying examination (Class 12 or equivalent)
- No income restriction — open to all family income levels
How Much You Get
This scheme provides ₹2,500–₹3,000/month to eligible students. Income must not exceed No income limit from all sources, as certified by a competent authority. Scholarship money is disbursed directly to your Aadhaar-linked bank account via PFMS — no institution or intermediary handles the funds.
Amounts may vary between day scholars and hostellers in schemes that have both categories. Always check the official scheme guidelines on scholarships.gov.in for the current year's amount structure, as rates are subject to periodic revision by the government.
Documents Required
- Service / discharge certificate of the CAPF/RPF parent (issued by the concerned force)
- Relationship certificate from the force or a gazetted officer
- Class 12 or qualifying marksheet
- Admission letter from current institution
- Institution fee structure
- Aadhaar card and bank passbook
All documents must be uploaded in the format specified by NSP (usually JPG or PDF, under 200KB per file). Ensure scans are clear and legible — blurry uploads are a common cause of application defects.
The service certificate must explicitly name the specific force and provide the personnel's service number. General letters from district offices are not accepted. If your parent has retired, get the discharge certificate from the Records Office of their specific force — it can take 4–6 weeks, so start early.
