AICTE Pragati Scholarship — Girl Students
About This Scholarship
The AICTE Pragati Scholarship is one of the most generous scholarships available to girl students in India, providing ₹50,000 per year to support female students pursuing technical diploma or degree programmes at AICTE-approved institutions. Unlike many NSP schemes, Pragati has a high income ceiling of ₹8 lakh per year, making it accessible to a much wider section of middle-income families. A total of 5,000 scholarships are awarded each year, with reservation slots for SC (15%), ST (7.5%), and OBC (27%) students within that pool. The scholarship is a lump sum that can be used for tuition fees, books, equipment, laptops, software, and other educational expenses — no itemised billing is required. Pragati is administered through the AICTE portal (aicte-pragati-saksham-gov.in), not the main scholarships.gov.in portal, so students must apply on the AICTE-specific platform.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicant must be a girl student

How Much You Get
This scheme provides ₹50,000/year to eligible students. Income must not exceed ₹8 lakh/year from all sources, as certified by a competent authority. Scholarship money is disbursed directly to your Aadhaar-linked bank account via PFMS — no institution or intermediary handles the funds.
Amounts may vary between day scholars and hostellers in schemes that have both categories. Always check the official scheme guidelines on scholarships.gov.in for the current year's amount structure, as rates are subject to periodic revision by the government.
Documents Required
- Aadhaar card (mandatory)
- Income certificate from competent authority (not older than one year)
- Admission proof at an AICTE-approved institution
- Copy of fee receipt / fee structure from institution
- Bank account passbook (individual, General Savings account — not FRILL or joint accounts)
- Caste certificate (for SC/ST/OBC reservation within the scheme)
All documents must be uploaded in the format specified by NSP (usually JPG or PDF, under 200KB per file). Ensure scans are clear and legible — blurry uploads are a common cause of application defects.
Pragati is applied on aicte-pragati-saksham-gov.in — NOT on scholarships.gov.in. Many eligible students miss it entirely because they only check NSP. The income limit of ₹8 lakh is the highest of any major scheme, so a large share of middle-income families qualify. Apply as early as the window opens — 5,000 slots fill up, and late applicants lose priority.
