Aided School

A school that receives government aid or grants — either fully or partially. It's private in management but receives public funding.

Aided schools must provide free education to a proportion of children matching the ratio of government aid to total expenses, with a minimum of 25% free seats. Many well-known private schools in India are aided — they must comply with 25% free provision.

Examples
  • A private school that receives government salary grants for teachers: aided school
  • A school receiving government building/equipment grants: aided school
  • Must provide at least 25% free education (often more, depending on aid ratio)
